About Murmansk
Murmansk is mysterious and inviting. Here one frequently hears the word “the most!”. It is the largest polar city in the world. The ice-free Murmansk port is the northernmost in Russia. On the coast, guests are welcomed by the first in the world nuclear icebreaker Lenin. Murmansk is the youngest hero city. On the top of one of the highest hills in the city, you can see Alyosha — the memorial complex to the soldiers defending Murmansk during the Great Patriotic War. It is the largest in Russia (if not to take into account the monument to Motherland). Here you can cross Kola Bay using the longest polar bridge. And, to return to the south, you can use the railway line that is the northernmost in the world. Here you can also visit the most unique aquarium. It is the only place in Europe, where Arctic seals are trained. You can get there by trolleybus using the northernmost line in the world. In Murmansk, you will meet people that are the most hospitable and kind-hearted, despite the extreme climatic conditions of the Arctic. Wonderful landscapes of the Kola Peninsula are incredibly beautiful and diverse — rocky coasts of the Barents Sea that change into endless flat lands, mountain ranges and hills of different height that are covered with tundra plants, multiple picturesque lakes and rivers. The memories of long polar nights and days, as well as the fantastic natural phenomenon — iridescent polar lights — will remain with you for the entire life. Having come to the severe and fascinating Arctic for the first time, you will not be able to help crying: “I will certainly come back here! See you soon!”
