There are many mysterious and mystical sights on Earth: Pyramids of Giza in Egypt, Goseck circle in Germany, Stonehenge in England, Loch Ness Lake in Scotland and others. As far as Sakhalin Island is concerned, it tempts one with mysterious residual mountain “Lyagushka”. Beautiful and massive, this remaining resistant rock is named so because it looks like a frog (lyagushka) which is about to take a leap. Annually, hundreds of thousands of tourists and pilgrims come there. They cover a long distance to switch off from daily routine, absorb the planet’s unique energetics, isolate themselves with nature, feel something challenging, unknown. Ecologists say the residual mountain used to be a sea bottom. If to be more attentive, one can still find there a sea shell. A vivid boundary between forest and shrub vegetation is seemed to be drawn by the very nature. The ordinary world is opposed to the one of the rock. The latter is remarkable by a number of trees, forbidden wildwoods and springs with pure water known for its medicinal properties. The residual mountain doesn’t leave anyone indifferent. Each one is certain to find something extraordinary about this tourist attraction. At first to climb the rock doesn’t seem easy. The walking route starts in Solnechnaya forest meadow and follows a river with hanging bridges. One can have a swim there or take several sips of pure water. The most part of the tour includes climbing a bald mountain. Sometimes there will be the so-called stairs pleached with tree roots. After passing secret trail ways with a guide and climbing to the top, one considers the whole route just a mere trifle. From there one can see picturesque Aniva Bay, Tunaicha and Izmenchivoye Lakes.
