Looking forward to seeing something new and interesting while in Moscow? Then an insight into Russian ancientness is intended for your special benefit.
Among numerous sights of Moscow Izmaylovsky Kremlin is remarkable for its authentic Russian architecture.
Wooden and stone constructions were built according to drawings dating back to the 16-17th centuries. Decorated with frescoes and carvings, the constructions fully recapture the atmosphere of traditional Russian courtyard. On the vast territory of Izmaylovsky Kremlin there are lots of various museums to fit every taste. Here are only some of their names: the Vodka Museum, Bread Museum, Chocolate Museum, Marshmallow Museum, the Museum of Miniatures “World History in Plasticine”, Folk Crafts Museum, the Museum of History of Basis of the Russian Fleet. One can become engrossed in chocolate- and soap-making, baking and decoration of spice cakes, pottery and smithery, painting on wood and tying sailor’s knots. One can take a foray into traditions of feasting and bread baking according to authentic Russian recipes dating back over 500 years. In the grounds of Izmaylovsky Kremlin one can also see a unique collection of Russian vodka and a place where Peter the Great used to learn shipbuilding and navigation. After the tour one can try Russian national cuisine in the eating room of Izmaylovsky Kremlin.
A flea market opened at the weekend is one more place worth visiting. There one can find a lot of bric-a-brac: antique household items, rare books, handmade designer jewelry, grandfather clock and other vintage things that may hardly be imagined!

I like visiting the Kremlin of Izmailovo from time to time. It is a pleasure for me to see its Russia-specific architecture, colorful towers and wooden stairs. It is like stepping back in time…
By the way, the Kremlin hosts a wonderful flea market at weekends. There you can buy antique furniture, interior design items, art objects and plenty of other things. Those who know say you’d better be poorly-dressed because if you want to bargain something, you should not look too wealthy. Once I met a very interesting man there. He was selling old Soviet bills and original posters for old movies. That time movie posters were taken very seriously – each one was personally signed by a movie director whenever they approved of them. We talked for a while with the man and he showed me an exclusive thing – a poster for a legendary Soviet movie They Fought For Their Country with its director Sergey Bondarchuk’s original signature put in the early 70s. The seller asked me if I knew Sergey Bondarchuk’s son Fyodor as he wanted to hand that poster over to him. I called to my friends and now, I hope this poster is in Fyodor’s collection. If I met him once, I would ask about it.
